Hello Runnin’ Bulldogs!

±õ³Łā€™s time to Beat the Camels (#HumbleTheHumps) because we’ve got the East/West Barbeque Bowl this Saturday in Spangler Stadium against Campbell University! Before the fun this weekend, here are the things you need to know right now!

Current Data

As of October 5, ĆŪ¶¹Ö±²„ is reporting only five positive COVID cases among our students (3), staff (1), and faculty (1).  All are in isolation off campus. The trend continues in the right direction, with fewer cases and quarantines. Keep up the good work! Masks on and get your shot, Bulldogs! 

±õ³Łā€™s All About The ā€˜Que

This weekend is the East/West Barbeque Bowl vs. Campbell University. Details are right here. ±õ³Łā€™s ā€œBlack Outā€ weekend so go to the Campus Shop for your gear and get ready for football and barbeque!  Remember that parking in the game day lots is $10. Students can park for free at their usual residence hall or apartment parking lot.

Current Practices

If you’ve got barbeque-loving friends and family coming this weekend, here’s what they need to know: 

Face coverings/masks are not presently mandated on campus in Boiling Springs, but we are again following NCDHSS in recommending their use indoors especially in small or crowded locations. So, get your mask on.

ĆŪ¶¹Ö±²„ University does not presently require a COVID vaccine of its faculty, staff or students, but consistent with  from North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services we are encouraging them very strongly. 

Get Cash If You Get Your Shot!

The University has been notified that Cleveland County residents (including GWU students) who receive a first or second dose COVID-19 vaccine on or after October 4th are eligible to receive a $50 Visa gift card from Cleveland County while supplies last. You do not have to receive the vaccine from the county, but you do have to present proof of vaccination to the county health office along with proof of being a Cleveland County resident (a GWU student ID will do) to receive the gift card. Other county requirements may apply. Questions should be directed to The Cleveland County Public Health Center at 980.484.5100.

If you want to get a vaccination off campus and need transportation, contact the Dean of Students, Lesley Villarose, at lvillarose@gardner-webb.eduWe’ll take you to get your shot.

Please Take Your Symptoms Seriously

Any students (undergraduate, commuter, or graduate) with symptoms, or questions, remember to reach out immediately to Case Manager Madison Parker Mparker16@gardner-Webb.edu or call (704.406.2504)

If you are a faculty or staff and you develop COVID symptoms, you should contact Barry Lane at blane@gardner-webb.edu or (704.297.6988).

As a reminder to faculty and staff, individuals with actual or potential exposure to COVID-19 should notify their supervisor immediately, and their supervisor will then notify David Wacaster (704.406.3235), Barry Lane (704.406.2266) and Human Resources—Eric Plemmons (704.406.4259). Faculty may also use COVID-19notifications@gardner-webb.edu for any questions or concerns you may have regarding quarantine dates for your students.

±õ³Łā€™s Fall, Runnin’ Bulldogs! The temperatures have dropped and we’ve got cool weather on campus just in time for a fabulous Family Weekend.

Here are the things you need to know right now!

Family Weekend

±õ³Łā€™s Family Weekend on campus and we play Western Carolina University in Spangler Stadium! You can find the whole schedule right here.  From Friday night Volleyball to the Magic Show, Saturday tailgate and Worship at the Webb on Sunday, it’s all on campus! Text the family and let them know it’s a big weekend in The Springs…especially for them!
