Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps Returns to the Field After Nearly Two Years

Performance Features Full Production, ‘Project21: In My Mind,’ and Other Special Presentations

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—After nearly two years, Carolina Crown returns to the performance field on July 10 to present an evening of celebration and fun. The production, “Project21: In My Mind,” will be in Spangler Stadium, 150 Stadium Drive, at ۶ֱ University. Gates to CrownLIVE will open at 6:30 p.m. with the live performance starting at 8:30 p.m. in the stadium. The show will include features by individual sections of the Corps as well as the full 2021 production.

“Carolina Crown and our membership are extremely excited about the opportunity to perform live for the residents of Boiling Springs as well as for all local fans, as we missed the opportunity last year,” remarked Jim Coates, CEO/Executive Director for Carolina Crown Inc.

For over three decades, Carolina Crown has focused on the mission of “Developing Lifelong Excellence in Young People.” Thousands of youth have passed through the organization’s programs through the years. In addition to the Crown Drum Corps, the 501(c)3 charity offers training camps, hosts honor bands for middle and high school musicians, participates in community service projects through Crown Cares, and offers a virtual clinic series.

Before the show starts, the Carolina Crown Alumni Association will host a two-hour #BecauseofCrown special online via social media platforms starting at 6 p.m. These posts will feature stories and memories from throughout Crown’s history, as well as some favorite sights and sounds through the years. Also featured will be insider looks at “Project21” and even a few interviews with current performers, staff members and designers.

This year’s production is a homecoming for those who have engaged with Crown through the years. A unique cinematic experience, the performance focuses on the theme “No matter where your road leads in life, you will always have a home at Carolina Crown.” The production will explore music from all different genres, including “Carolina in My Mind” by James Taylor, “Long Time Traveler” by The Wailin’ Jennys, “Seize the Day” by Peter Graham, “Gravity” by Sarah Bareilles, and “Toccata Andromeda” by Paul Halley.

For those who can’t make it in person to the show, plans are currently underway to broadcast the event online. Additional information about the online format will be released in the coming weeks. Follow Crown on and and check for more information as it becomes available.
