On April 16, the GWU community will come together for the 11th annual day of giving to support students through scholarships, athletic programs, academic resources, and the hands‑on experiences that help them thrive. Volleyball Head Coach Alex Hinsey This year, the volleyball team is energized by the momentum of a growing program that has been shaped in meaningful ways by donor generosity. Volleyball Head Coach Alex Hinsey shared that support has been essential in creating a championship‑caliber environment for his student‑athletes. “Donations to Gardner‑Webb volleyball have played a vital role in supporting our team’s travel for meals, hotels, and bus transportation, allowing us to compete at the highest level,†Hinsey affirmed. “Contributions also help provide high-quality team gear and uniforms, giving our athletes a strong sense of pride and unity when representing our program. In addition, donor support allows us to invest in upgraded training and performance equipment, enhancing our preparation and helping us compete at a championship level.†Caroline Franklin a right side/outside hitter for the team is proud to be a Runnin’ Bulldog for many reasons. “The best part of being a student athlete is getting to play college athletics while going to a mission-minded school that builds students up and encourages them, while equipping them to follow the Lord in all that they do,†she reflected. Caroline Franklin A sophomore exercise science major from Greenville, N.C., Franklin expressed her gratitude for the support the volleyball team has received on Double Dawg Day. “The day means a lot to me because it just shows the support that other people have for us and it gives us, as athletes, the confidence to perform,†she asserted. “Knowing we have support on our side in all aspects—from friends to family to alumni—it just means so much to know people are here for us and choose to support our program.†She emphasized, “Every gift or donation to our program makes an impact and helps our program succeed in so many ways. We are grateful to have you on our team, and we hope that you will continue to support us for years to come, and as always, ‘Sko Dawgs!†Echoing Franklin’s appreciation for the investment others make in the program, Hinsey added his thanks for the donors who will help drive the program forward this year. “We are building something special—both on and off the court,†he explained. “With a talented roster, a strong competitive schedule, and a commitment to excellence in the classroom and community, the 2026 season represents an exciting opportunity to continue elevating our play and take a meaningful step forward as a program.
