Biography

Before joining 蜜豆直播 University, Dr. Aihua Zhang taught at Stockton University (NJ) as a visiting assistant professor. Her research interests include Modern China, women and gender, East Asian history, social activism, and transnationalism. Her book, The Beijing Young Women鈥檚 Christian Association, 1927-1937: Materializing a Gendered Modernity (Lexington Books, 2021), is the first one focusing on the YWCA in a Chinese city. In addition to a chapter to an edited volume聽Christianity and the Modern Woman in East Asia聽(Brill), she published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, including 鈥溾淩einventing Tradition and Indigenizing Modernity: The Beijing New Women and their Creation of a New Feminine Leisure Culture, 1911-1937鈥 in Women鈥檚 History Review Journal and 鈥淲omen鈥檚 Leisure and Leisure Satisfaction in Contemporary China鈥 (co-authored) in World Leisure Journal.
